  • Angela Rypien follows her father’s steps

    The former Washington Redskins quarterback’s daughter made her debut this weekend in the Lingerie Football League.

    If you are a big football fan probably one of the first things that comes to mind when someone mentions Mark Rypien are the Washington Redskins wining Super Bowl XXVI with the Canadian-born quarterback as the MVP of the game. But once you take a glance at his daughter Angela we are sure that your mind will have something else to associate Mark with.

    Like her father Angela is also a quarterback, who plays in the Lingerie Football League for the Seattle Mist.  Her debut took place on Sunday against the Green Bay Chill, and it couldn’t have gone better as her squad won the game 42-8. Besides playing in the same position as her father, she also wears No. 11 just like he used to.

    She has always received the support from her father, Angela said, who must be very proud of her debut since she threw three touchdowns passes.

    About the critics that question why girls have to play in lingerie Angela avoids discussions, and simply refers to it as “another sport” that otherwise wouldn’t “drag people in.”

    In our opinion, she couldn’t have said it better.

  • Dallas Cowboys hop like kangaroos

    Angela Nicoreta has become the first Australian cheerleader in franchise history and the Cowboys welcomed her with a victory in the pre-season opener against the Broncos.

    Teams didn’t just focused on players during the free agency to make their rosters stronger, but also in bringing more talent to their cheerleader squads. This is that case of the Dallas Cowboys that have decided to welcome onboard Angela Nicoreta, after she made it into the final 34 out 540 women that went through an intense eight-week program to become be part of their cheerleading squad: America’s Sweethearts.

    After nine seasons in the National Rugby League cheering for the Manly Seabirds, the 26-year-old brunette has become the first Australian cheerleader in franchise history that becomes an American Sweetheart.

    Along with her cheerleader career in Australia Nicoreta was able to complete her studies in chiropractic science, obtaining her bachelor’s degree.

    Now focusing in the Dallas’ preseason debut against the Denver Broncos at Cowboys Stadium Thursday night, they were able to give their fans a victory. The Cowboys rallied a 3-point difference in the second half and were able to impose themselves by 23-24 over the Broncos.

    Quarterback Stephen McGee stole the show when there were only 15 seconds to go, throwing a 13-yard touchdown pass for Dwayne Harris, followed by a two-point conversion one to Martin Rucker. Aware of his condition as one of Tony Romo’s substitute he made the best out of “my regular season,” as he likes to call it, completing 14-of-24 for 208 yards and three TDs. He also had time to accumulate 25 yards, product of four runs.

    Starter Romo had a discrete night, throwing for 3-of-5 for 33 yards and no TDs. Jon Kitna didn’t shine neither and threw for 3-of-4 for 23 for 23 yards and zero TDs.

    It was Romo’s first game since week six from last season, when he broke his collarbone and consequently missed the rest of the 2010-11 NFL season.

    With his fifth reception of the night Harris scored the winning TD, and his second of the game, which he finished with 127 yards.

    Although victories are always the most important result for players and fans, in a preseason game suffering no injuries is as important. Therefore is was a double win for the Cowboys, since none of their starters got hurt, and the substitutes who did, none of their injuries were serious.

    Much improvement is expected from the Cowboys for this season, since 2010’s was one to forget, not only because they didn’t clinch a playoff berth, but also because they closed it with a losing record of 6-10.

    That series of bad results made interim Jason Garett take over Wade Phillips charge as head coach, after he was fired on November 8 with a 1-7 balance.

    This will be the Cowboys 52nd season in the NFL, and Phillips’ first one in charge since the beginning of the preseason. Hopefully he will be able to invert the bad taste from last season and led the team to Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium. If he does fans will be hopping like kangaroos only that this time Aussie Angela Nicoreta won’t be the reason.

    While the NFL is still on lockout NY Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is making the best of his days off spending some time in getting to know actress and singer Hayden Panettiere, who he met at a pre-Oscars bash in Hollywood in February, back when she was still dating boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

    On May 12 Hayden made it public that Wladimir and she had decided to put an end to their two-year relationship, which brought Sanchez back to the map. Ever since reports about these two being spotted together aren’t something rare, as a fact this past Memorial Day they were seen very close together grabbing some food at In-N-Out in Laguna Hills.

    These encounters are doing nothing but feeding the media with rumors about them being more than just friends. We don’t know what feelings could Hayden have for Sanchez, but we do how she feels about Wladimir, for whom according to her words she has an “amazing amount of love and respect for each other and remain very close friends”.

    Who knows if all that Sanchez needs is just hang there a little bit longer until she has completely heal from her two year relationship to finally unveil what feelings she has towards him. No matter how this story ends we’ll keep you updated.

    With the NFL in lookdown Houston has focused in getting their cheerleader squad ready and two beautiful twins have joined the franchise.

    Allow us to introduce you to Michelle y Rachel Lewis. This two lovely twins will be taking care of your mood in case you are a Houston Texans fan, or that your team happens to be playing against them o the road.

    Michelle and Rachel will be part of the Texans cheerleading squad for the upcoming 2011 NFL season if the lockdown reaches satisfactory terms by then.

    They were selected by the fans among two more other set of twins that also participated in the contest held at the draft party last Thursday.

    These two Jewish sisters will be facing a nice challenge on their debut along with their new teammates: defending the NFL Dance title won this past season.

    We can’t predict how successful they will be doing that, but what we can predict is that the Texans home games will definitely suffer an increase in comparison with last year.
